God helps us forget

GOD HELPS US FORGET

Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” The second son he named Ephraim and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering” (Genesis 41:50-52).

There are things that deserve to be forgotten, since they do not help us reach our dreams, goals and blessings. There are other things that are worthy of remembering like the Word of God, family and God’s love.

GOD DOES NOT FORGET ABOUT YOU (Isaiah 49:15)

Many times we can come to feel as if God has forgotten about us, overall when we are going through difficult circumstances or when we have been praying but there is no answer.

When the Lord has promised us something, we can be sure that He will fulfill it, because He never forgets His covenants.

GOD HELPS YOU FORGET YOUR PAST AND SHAME (Isaiah 54:4)

When we give our life to our Lord Jesus, we become creditors of this promise and God helps us forget our past and everything else that use to bring us shame.

Maybe what we have suffered will not be erased from our memory, but when we remember it, it will not produce pain like before; instead it will bring a desire to keep going forward.

GOD FORGETS YOUR SIN

When we repent with all of our heart, God is faithful and just to forgive; and He has promised to forget our sins.

Just as God erases our rebellion and our sins from His memory, we must also forget them.

“I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again”. (Isaiah 43:25 NLT).

God gave Joseph a son named Manasseh, whose name means “God made me forget”. Then, He gave him another son named Ephraim, whose name means “God has made me fruitful”. When we are willing to start a new life led by the Word of God, He helps us forget and be fruitful; which means He helps us prosper in all areas of our life.

Think about it:

Is it easier to forget what is good or what is bad?
What things in our life should we try to forget?
What memories should we keep?
